Hello I have been having problems installing windows XP on my computer. Every time Itry to install it I get the sam error message " Set up was unable to format Partition. The Disk may be damaged. Make sure the device is switched on and properly connected to your computer. If the disk is a SCI disk, make sure your SCSI devices are properly terminated. Consult you Computer manuel or SCSI adaptor documentation for more information". I have tried 3 different hard drives but i keep getting the same message. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

make sure all data and power cables are properly seated. Make sure you have it jumpered correctly and that the BIOS sees the drive.

Then try running the install again and see what happens.

SATA drives won't have jumpers to set. But you will need to prepare a driver disk like a 3 1/2" floppy to load the needed drivers from if you are going to run a SATA type drive as the primary. The main reason that you would see the error message seen there is that a primary partition has to be created and later formatted by the installer. Do you see the drive installed listed by the installer? Which type of drive are you trying to install Windows onto?
