I'd almost say go with Dell. You can get much better than what is posted so far (sorry guys, but it's true).

Building your own computer is always better/cheaper/easier.

When the budget is higher, definitely. But the builds above are inferior to the computer my parents bought from Dell for $440. No argument.

lmao... look at the components in a dell...

Cheap sweatshop made "krucial" memory, and "lestern figital" hard drives. Last for no time at all, and then you call their "Best customer service, in the world!" with immigrants who barely speak english, talking you through how to Turn on your monitor... when you called about the blue screen of death.

Yea... that sounds like a winner to me...

Actually the parts in Dells are for the most part the same as ours. Graphics card, processor, hard drive, maybe even RAM, are all pretty much the same as what we buy. Maybe the motherboard isn't good, and you can't overclock. I would not want it for that reason. But this does not matter to alot of people.

I am not saying Dell is better than building. I am just saying they are both better for difference audiences, which I think we can all agree upon.

I had a Dell, and although durable, it was a piece of crap. The components stunk, and it was nowhere near gaming performance. Heck, they'd just give you onboard video! At least our builds include a good GFX... and I can almost guarantee you that they'll just give you a single core.

Your names reminded me of my "Zombacrombie & Twitch" that I came up with

I called support once because my Windows XP install would freeze (Older dimension 2100). They're like "Try plugging in the HDD behind the CD-ROM." I was like WTF kinda difference will that make? It made none whatsoever. I just had to learn the keystrokes to get it to format and install and type them within about 5 seconds of install's startup.

When you buy a Dell, you choose the components.... it's not just them screwing you and giving you a single core, lol. Yes, they do give onboard video, or you can buy a card from them, or buy a graphics card separately for cheaper.

FYI, my parents are getting a Q6600, 500Gb hard drive, 3GB DDR2-800, Home Premium, DVD buirner, etc. All this for $440. Sure, the RAM might not have the tightest timings, and the Mobo won't overclock, but none of this makes too much difference to them. In this case, it is still cheaper than buying parts.

That's actually not that stupid. They were probably trying to tell you to make sure the CD-ROM is master, and to make sure you boot from that.
