I know that my problem isn't uncommon but i have not read a helpful solution to this yet.

anyway, ive got an ati Radeon 9800XT in my computer and it was working fine until i updated it with the latest ati drivers from their website. i then went into a game and after about 3 minutes the screen started flickering weird colours and the monitor turned off and displayed 'no signal'.

for the record the computer works fine when its doing anything else except in a game. I roled back the drivers to the previous ones and the problem persisted. I went into BIOS and loaded failsafe defaults and it helped slightly (lasts maybe twenty minutes).

When the 'no signal' appears the computers definantly still working fine as i can still hear the sound and that.

computer details: 512 ddr, Pentium4 3.00GHZ, atiradeon 9800xt

Help would bee much appreciated. thanks

Go into system info, start the Direct X dianostic tool, click display, make sure DirectDraw-Direct 3D and AGP textures are enabled!

Check the resolution that the game is set in

If you have updated the card with older drivers, the resolution that you run in may no longer be supported.

Sorry if this is not the case, as i dont belive that you would of updated with old drivers.

ive tried everything. ive reduced resolution, graphics levels. and even if this was the problem i dont believe that i would be happy to compromise anyway seeing that it worked excellently before

i tried a smaller 15in monitor and that said no signal straight away; and yes i plugged it in properly. is there any chance that it could be a virus or somethin g or is it almost certainly my graphics card?
