Hey, I recently bought Empire: Total War for my computer, with a pretty high suspicion that it would not be able to run.

My suspicions were affirmed when indeed, it failed to run.

I needed to get a new computer anyway, and currently I am looking at the following from Dino PC:

CPU: 02003 - Intel® Core 2 Duo E8400
CPU Cooler: 03001 - Standard CPU heatsink & fan
Motherboard: 04030 - Asus P5QL (Intel P43 chipset, 4x DDR2, PCI-E 2.0)
Memory: 05016 - 4GB DDR2 800mhz (2x 2GB)
Hard Drives: 06004 - 500GB S-ATAII 3.0Gb/s
Optical Drive: 07001 - 20x DVD±RW DL S-ATA Lightscribe
Graphics card: 08027 - NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT 512MB
Sound card: 10001 - Onboard 7.1 Audio
Operating System: 11005 - Microsoft® Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 32-bit
PSU: 18011 - 500W Eagle
Case: 17001 - Asus TA-210
Warranty: 1000 - 3 Year Bronze Warranty

And these are the specifications for Empire: Total War :

Supported OS: Windows® XP Service Pack 2 or Windows Vista™
Processor: 2.4 GHz Intel® Pentium® or greater or AMD® Athlon® equivalent CPU
Memory: 1 GB RAM (XP,) 2 GB RAM (Vista™)
Graphics: 100% DirectX 9.0c compatible hardware accelerated video card with shader version 2.0 support, 256 MB video memory
Display: Minimum screen resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels
Sound: Directx9.0c compatible sound card
Hard Drive: 15 GB free hard disk space formatted as NTFS
Peripherals: Windows compatible mouse and keyboard

I know this may seem like I am completely ignorant about computers. And really, I am.

Will Empire run on the computer I am looking to buy, and if so, how well?

Any help is always appreciated, Thank You.

It should run fine...the graphics settings will have to be turned down. I play that game and it stresses my system. When you just play the map portion it will run fine, but, when you play the land and sea battles...it will give your system a serious workout.

I don't know why they have such low system specs listed. When I play...it's around 75% load on all 4 cores and I average about 30 FPS with all settings on high. I tried all settings on very high and it looked great for about a minute...then it crashed.

I would really like to see somebody play that game with the system they have listed for the minimum...Not a chance!

This game is like the "Computer Killer Crysis" in a strategy game...it will make your system work for it!

that rig should hold up with empire. It wont max it out or anything like that but it should certainly stand up to the task.
