it works on my laptop which is wireless but doesnt work on my desktop which is connected by ethernet. any one know why its not working and how to fix it?

You are going to need to give a bit more information than that. What is it doing? System specs? & all that good stuff.

p4 1.7ghz
768MB ram
geforce 4 mx440

netgear wgr614 wireless router
motorola sb4200 cable modem

ive got avg for my antivirus and jsut the normal sp2 firewall. maple story is already on the exception list.

maple story has worked perfectly before, i think it stopped working when i got my router, but thats weird because it works perfectly on my laptop.

well i can open maple story and get to the logon screen, after that i cant do anything it takes 5 minutes to get the next screen, and i dont think ive ever gotten past that bit. its a case of extreme lag.

I am not really that familiar with the game but I'm wondering what the next screen is it that takes so long to load? Have you tried removing and installing the game again? Is it a server screen that is taking so long to load?

Have you removed spyware from the system lately? Also try shutting down your anti-virus temporarily.

formatted yesterday and ive tried shutting down the avg. well now i cant even get the game open. before it actually opens the game it runs a program called game guard which prevents hackers, i cant get past that screen now.

i pretty sure its my firewall settings but i dont know what try since its already on my exceptions list and i dont have any other firewall

ok after some playing around with settings i still cant get it too work. ive got abosolutley no idea why it wont work. its being allowed in the windows firewall, it works on my laptop which is using the same router and i just formatted my computer yesterday so i got no idea why maplestory doesnt work.

I know little about routers/firewalls and all that. I've set up my own wireless connection and it's always worked fine (with the exception of MSN logging off then on again). Anyway that is why I won't lend router advice. Perhaps if you post in the network section, ask how to allow permissions for certain games with your router. Many Routers have built in firewalls.

I'm wondering if your laptop is also running the same OS as your desktop? If so, is it the same version? SP1, SP2 etc. Finally are they both the same version of the game? 1.0 1.2 etc. If not then make sure you patch the desktop to the same of the laptop which you know is working. I'm not sure if it has been mentioned by you or myself or anyone else but... update your game, drivers etc.

ok thanks for all the help. the game is up to date on both computers, all drivers are current drivers and both computers are running xp sp2. the laptop is media centre and my desktop is pro. ill try posting in the network section. thanks
