ok so im trying to install ubuntu on my computer but every time i try to open the file it says 'windows cannot open this file' right under that it say ' to open this file, windows needs to know what program created it. windows can go online to look it up automatically, or you can manually select from a list of programs on your computer' then it gives me the option to let the web service try to find the program or i can do it manually. can someone please tell me what to do? i deleted the program and downloaded it from a different website and the same thing happened.
can someone help me??????

you need to find out the file format the file is trying to open and install the corresponding program that will open it with that program. its saying that cuz windows does not know how to open it. you can either search manually or automatic(which never works). if nothing find format.

winrar is free for home use and it opens almost every compressed file format. or u can downlaod magiciso which is what i use
lol. Download PowerIso and burn the .iso file to a CD. Make sure your CD drive is set to boot first in the BIOS and boot the Ubuntu CD. Before the installation, you'll need to create an ext3 and a SWAP partition onto your hard drive. The steps are self explanatory, but if you need help with the install, reply to this thread.
