...either point me to a tutorial or webpage, or list the steps here, so i can attempt to unlock my athlonII x3, and up the speed on the memory. memory seems to be fact. set @ 667 and is 1600 if oc'ed but dont need oc'ed just up to 1333 probly or up to without oc-ing.

thanks

Just go into the bios under the Advanced tap. At the bottom under Advanced Clock Calibration, set to Auto. Then a setting will show up under it called Unleashing Mode, set it to Enabled. Then Save a Exit.

no need for adjusting voltage? if the system does not reboot on its own after a couple mins. means 4th core is unusable?

If it doesnt boot you could try bumping the CPU voltage, sometimes it works. If not the core is probably defective.

ok, looks defective. i bumped the cpu by 1.35 , set to auto and unleashing, and under that was 'all 4 cores'. i also attempted to up the default on the 'oc'able 1600 ram from 400 to 800 at the same time and didnt adjust any timings from default. so, dont know if one would have an effect on the other. when i have more time ill try again and read up on how to adjust the memory. everything is default right now. could other running programs that pertain to the cpu or memory have an effect on any of this?

thanks again

Put your memory back to 1333MHz and chek that your system is stable with the 4th core first. If you change 2 things at once and get instability, you won't know which it is that is causeing the instability, so get 1 thing changed at a time.

Your memory was at 667 because the highest speed officially that AM3 can run is 1333MHz

666.666... * 2=1333.333...

So AM3 motherboard set higher clocked memory to that. You can manually set it to 800MHz so you get the 1600MHz

Check to see if you have manually put the speed up to 1600MHz (if your motherboard doesn't have the option for 1600MHz) that it hasn't overclocked your CPU too. If it has, knock the multiplier down so it is bak to stock before you start overclocking (if you are going to do so)
