I have an XFX geforce 9800GTX and EVGA geforce gtx 470. Are they SLI compatible? And how would I set that up? and my motherboard is SLI ready.

No, you can only do SLI with identical cards. You can use the 9800 for Physx processing but the 470 doesn't really need it. Your better off selling the 9800 and looking for another 470 provided your PSU can handle it. What are the specs of the rest of your system?

JLuchinski is correct those two cards cannot do SLI but they can if they're from the same series. For example, a 460 and a 470.

Your powersupply will definitely handle another 470. get one of those and sli them. make sure they are exactly identical.

...cards have to have identical processors to be compatible, memory can vary, but thats about all. 460 + 460 *works* 470 + 460 *wont* thats about as simple as it gets...

Whoops, got it confused with crossfiring. But you can still SLI different 460s, like one from gigabyte and the other an HIS. You just need the same amount of VRam. But if their core clocks are different, you can still do it.

But you will want 2 cards with the same or as similar settings as possible as when sli'd they both got to the lower or slower setting. You may be able to overclock them but you'l also have to crank the fan uP as multiple cards block are to the top card so it will be very hot.

Pretty sure you could sli if you got one of those msi boards with a lucid hydra chip on it. Or you could just keep the 9800 gtx for a physx card
