Bios is the Basic system software that comes with your motherboard. You enter the BIOS in order to choose what drive to boot from, set voltage, change timing of your RAM < Random Access Memory >, squeeze a little performance outside the default settings from your system through overclocking, etc.

You press escape - or delete to enter BIOS during boot - and you can set the timing and voltage to overclock your RAM. Some Ram like DDR3 1600 you need to adjust the settings of voltage / timing in order to get the appropriate speed for which the RAM was designed to run.

BIOS (Basic Input Output System) Its job is to instruct the computer hardware what to do at system start up; configure peripheral controllers; monitor components tempreture and voltage; monitor the data, address and control buses and hold user hardware prefrences for other devices to refer to. BIOS's are silicon based ROM chips and cannot be written to and are non volatile.

RAM (Random access memory) RAM is silicon based memory and can be both read and written to. RAM volatile and significantly faster than peripheral memory. It is the main storage for both software and data in the von Neumann architecture

I hope this helps

The relation is as Jamin43 said the BIOS can monitor and control the RAM
