can you modify a Mac?

like could you put it a new video card or anything like that? and do macs have any hardware made for just a mac? like the motherboard or anything

depends on the mac, i know with an imac it's much harder as it's a laptop really, it's got the insides of a laptop with the reconfigured parts and all, and the nice case, which is part of the reason they cost so much, then add in the screen too.
