I had some difficulty copying a movie DVD using software like 1ClickDVD, ICopyDVDs2 etc and DVD43

Is it possible for the attempted copying process to leave the original movie DVD very badly scratched and marked, with hundreds of tiny scratch marks actually on the original DVD?

Thanks for any assistance that you may be able to provide.
 
You should not be copying commercial dvds on account of the fact it's illegal. However, the media industry has yet to find a way to put scratches all over the dvd in question or to put 5000 volts through you and your pc. Maybe next week...
