Can you tell if I load a Linux Live CD?

If I am on one of my mom's mac's, and boot a linux live cd, can she tell (obviously assuming she is pretty tech-friendly)?

Or what about single user mode? - Don't comment on this part if you don't know what it is.

I'm not quite sure what you are asking. Are you worried about harming the mac os by booting a linux live cd? or are you wondering if she can tel the difference between mac and linux?
 
Like is there any way for her to tell I booted a Linux disc after I shutdown? I've never seen traces, but I was kind of curious.
 
nope booting the live cd will not change anything from what is currently installed.

Edit: I would check the compatibility of the version of linux that you are using and the mac that you have. I have heard of a few issues with some of the linux distros and mac hardware.

Nope. She won't be able to tell you were running a live cd after you shutdown.
