Can you use a different usb receiver with a wireless keboard and mouse?

I recently ordered a new Natural Ergonomic Desktop Keyboard and Mouse 7000. The usb receiver is defective. Microsoft will replace it but they are backordered for 2 months. Can I use another 2.4ghz receiver from some cheap wireless keyboard/mouse?

Nope... I even tried this with my LX6 and LX7 mice. The receivers will not work with one another. Unless it's bluetooth, most all use their own standards.
