Hello Guys,

My friend is wanting to buy Time Capsule for his mac.

Instead of doing that, can he build a desktop and use that as Time Capsule and install software that will do the same job as Time Capsule????

Isn't Time Capsule just a backup program anyways? There are several similar applications out there.

time capsule is a wireless harddrive that time machine(software) backs up the data to.

I think what he wants to do is a to hook up a cheap computer to a wireless router and have some software run on the mac such that it backs up the data to the cheap computer.

I don't know how to do this.
