Cannibalizing an external drive to make an internal.

I have a LaCie 500 GB external drive and want to put it inside my desktop.
Is it just a regular SATA drive inside or a open disc? It's a discontinued model, so I cant find it on their web site, but this is it:

This is the only reliable site I could find it on.

So is it possible?

It's just an internal drive inside, probably Maxtor, being 500GB it could be either IDE or SATA

how do I see what the drive inside is and if it's SATA or not?


EDIT: It's a SATA, I took it apart and now its in my computer
