cannot boot from cd

I have an as rock motherboard k7s41. I can access bios from keyboard, but the system will not let me boot from cd. I have changed boot priority to cd. Whats going on? Im using xp pro

no error message and yes the drive can read the cd. I have also tried another keyboard.

Usually at the bottom of the boot screen, even if you have the CD/DVD set as first. It will say press a key to boot from CD/DVD.
