Cannot boot Vista

I was using the computer earlier and a virus was detected and then the screen went blue so I quickly shut it down. The computer will now not boot up.

I can't access the safe mode screen - so I can't get into my desktop/login at all.

I can get it to load as far as the screen that lists the hardware/software etc (2nd screen) but it will just stay on that.

I can get into the F2 and F12 screens, however if I try and exit those the screen will just go black and a dash will flash in the top corner.

I'm trying to do a system restore, however when I select the 'boot to utility partition' option (in the boot menu) the computer will just freeze.

As you can probably tell I'm not an expert in computers - but can anyone try and help me?

Do you get a blue screen when Windows tries to boot? If so, what does it say?

Do you have the Windows Vista DVD disk?
If yes, repair your operating system with it.The virus might have deleted some important Windows OS files needed for the OS to work properly...
