cannot connect to one specific url!

I cannot connect to www.google.com. All other sites and connectivity are fine. Browser just tries to conect and the says cannot connect - happens in IE8 and Firefox. other computers in house connect fine. I can go to google.com via the IP address, but cannot navigate further from there.

anyone have any ideas?????
 
I had something similar before, I couldn't connect to Google, Anti-Vir or the Spybot: Search And Destroy homepage. Turned out to be a nasty piece of software called Vundo. Had to format my OS partition and re-install the OS. In other words, check for viruses and any kind of malware.

Ah, yeah, that could be a problem.


Try connecting to http://www.safer-networking.org/en/home/index.html and if you can, download and run it.

Are you running an Anti-Virus?
