Hey everyone,
I am having a bit of an issue connecting to any wireless router. Here are some short simple details about the situation.
. Using Windows Vista Home Premium - User Control is off (turned off after problem started occuring)
. Has worked many times before.
. Bought the laptop about 3 months ago
. HP Pavilion dv9000
. Using the internal wi-fi
. All wi-fi connections are dsl or cable modem
. None are security enabled
Here is what happens...
I turn on my computer, double check that my wi-fi is turned on. I go to open internet explorer. Cannot display webpage (work offline is not on). So I go to connect to a different wi-fi connection, I choose one of the 4 or 5, it says information could be seen by other parties, I chose connect anyways, it starts to connect, then it says connected. I try to open up IE and go to google.com, purple.com, and a few other webpages. All of them come up with page cannot be displayed.
I go to command prompt, and I cannot ping google.com or google's IP. I tryed turning off Windows Firewall, and all other security software. The only thing that has changed since the problem has occured has been that it automatically did windows update. I did a full virus scan with AVG, came up perfect.
Here are the results of some commands in command prompt-
- ping google.com -
"Ping request could not find host google.com. Please check the name and try again."
Same result for other URLs and ip's.
- ipconfig/all -
I can't post the screen shot, but some things that look fishy to me -
Primary DNS Suffix...............:
Nothing listed after it.
IP Routing, and WINS Proxy Enabled both have No's.
Connection-Specific DNS Suffix has nothing listed.
Anyways, a lot more listed that looks fishy,
- ipconfig/release -
Says cannot be completed when the media is disconnected. And it says it is for the local area connection.
When Vista trys to do a repair, it sits in repairing, and then says there may still be problems with the network, and then it says Windows confirmed that "primary DNS server" is currently online, but is not responding to connection attempts at this time.
I am trying to connect to other peoples wireless, but NONE work. And they ALL use to work.
Can someone recommend something please. And thank you, THANK YOU, for taking the time to read this long problem, and taking the time to respond. Thank you again.
