Cannot display Video Mode on startup

When i restart or boot up my computer, my monitor says "Cannot Display this video Mode" It says this during the Bios and the Windows screen when the bar is loading. But when it gets to the login screen, the picture comes up on my monitor. I have a ATI Radeon X700 Pro as my graphics card and a Dell Dimension 8300 as my computer. It only turns back to normal if i delete the video driver for the video card. The only way i can access the bios is by using my TV(S-video out). I can use this way, but not permanently because of the bad graphics and no sharpness so it is hard to see.

Many video cards only support up to 75htz. When you remove the drivers the card is no longer active where you then see only the basic Windows vga drivers in use. It sounds like the bios setting is higher then the card can support or lower then needed. Look in the bios to see if it is set to auto or at least 60htz. One reason you may see the desktop without drivers installed may be due to having the wrong ones. You can go to ATI's support site to download the correct drivers and Catalyst Control Center if you use that.

Do you have another monitor you could try? Once, I had an LCD that did something similar. It worked fine on basically all but one resolution. It wasn't always like that either. After a few months, the monitor wouldn't display anything(besides Video mode unsupported)
