Cannot find Internet connections, when my homehub is on?

Hello,

I am having some problems connecting to my BtHomehub. My laptop is now almost 4 years old, so take this into account when Reading :)

Last night, I was playing games as I usually do on the internet, and suddenly my Internet just disconnected from
my laptop. I hadn't moved it at all, I just had it sitting on my lap as it had been for a few hours. As it disconnected, I instantly asked my brother (who was using his laptop about 3ft away) if his had gone off, which it hadn't. As usual, I clicked onto "Connect to a network" to find that my laptop said "There are currently no networks available". My brother suggested shutting down my laptop, which I did, yet when I booted up, the same messages occured.

I then decided to re-start my homehub, which made absolutely no
difference. After about 5 minutes, my laptop found the network, but could not connect, and I diagnosed the problem to find that I was too far from the connection (I obviously wasn't seeing as I had been using that spot for 2 hours fine). After several restarts of both pieces of hardware, it still didn't work, so I decided to switch off both and leave them
for the morning.

When I booted up this morning, I got connected for about 1 minute, then exactly the same thing happened as last night - it just randomly switched off. I have tried reatarting both pieces of hardware, and yet still no joy.

If I could have some advise on how to fix this problem, please reply - bare in mind though I'm using an iPod touch so my replies may be slow.

Cheers guys,

Joe

Sound like it is more of a hardware issue rather then networking. The basic thing to check to see if you laptop has one of those external switches to enable/disable your wireless.
