cannot find server

every couple of minutes when i load a page it says can't find server. this can be fixed for a short time by repairing the connection. this is getting annoying and any suggestions would be nice.(oh i use internet explorer and a VIA Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adapter)
 
i guess. but for all i know its broken. :D it actually says this page cannot be displayed, not the page can not found.
p.s arg there it goes again please help
 
Is your cable plugged into the modem and the computer all the way? Sometimes mine slips out a bit. Because it is broken and I am cheap.
 
ok ill recap. i click on a link or type in url and it take me to the page that says page cant be displayed and tells me to refresh it. that doesnt help, but what i do is go to the control panel click on network connections and say repair connection. that makes it so i can veiw the page but that only lasts a few minutes and i have to do that again. does this help?
 
If your cable wasn't unplugged and you still get that error message then its probably a fault with the web page. The server might be down or something just keep trying :)
 
no, because its with every site i go to. and refreshing doestnt help. but, if you read my earlier post you would learn it is fixable if i go to control panel go to network connections and say repair connection. then it works fine and dandy for a while and then goes bad again. this leads me to believe its NOT a problem of the cables being loose or the site being down but of mabye the connection.
 
It could be your firewall. Which one do you have? Mine was at one time blocking access to all "secure" sites and I couldn't view certain websites as it would say "Page cannot be displayed". Check to make sure your firewall is not blocking access to your default internet browser.
