Cannot remote print Windows 8

I recently replaced my HP desktop running XP with a Gateway desktop running windows 8 (a horrible op system IMO). Previously I had been able to wirelessly print from a Toshiba laptop to my HP 5510 printer through my netgear router ( the printer is not wireless). The Gateway/windows 8 printer properties are set up with the X64 driver enabled; the X86 driver apparently is not installed (X86 is the enabled driver on the laptop). All attempts to install the X86 driver from the web and from the original printer disk have been unsuccessful - it advises that the op sys (windows 8) does not support it. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

You won't be able to install the X86 version because that is for a 32 bit OS. You are running a 64bit OS. As long as the 64 bit version is installed and you see the printer is listed as an installed printer, it should print.

Go to HP support page and download drivers for windows 8. I bought a New Hp Officejet 4500g and the disk that came with it did not work, printer is up and running now with new drivers. So maybe it will be the same with you.
