Cannot run the game

I have some problems with running "Splinter Cell Double Agent". Windows responds: 'Could not write licence data.'

Game is legally purchased, and in the beginning it worked with no complications.

Any ideas what the problem might be?

I reinstalled it. Even twice. Still does not work.

Did you install any Windows Updates, specifically some security patches?

I don't remember doing that. Actually, I am not the only one who uses this machine.

You mean those updates might be some disguised spyware programs?

No, they're not. They're actually just security updates, but I've found that sometimes they can be the root of a problem like that...

Funny thing happened. I was recommended to create different user account, log on from there, and then run the game. So I did. And guess what -- this damn thing worked!

How could those account be involved in that issue? Some corrupted system files? Just curious.

(btw, the Op System is Win XP)
