Cannot upgrade to iOS6

I recently restored my ipod touch (3rd gen) and it is currently on iOS 5.1.1. When I click on software update it says the software is up to date. There are certain apps that can only run on iOS6 and they worked fine before I restored the ipod.

I looked on apple's website but I can't find a solution and they charge to contact them. Anyone else have this problem? :confused:
 
Unfortunately for you, the iPod touch 3G can only run iOS 4.2 max, unless you have a 32/64GB model, in which case that can run up to iOS 5. The iPod touch 3G doesn't support iOS 6.

It is 32G. But there are apps that used to run perfectly before I restored it and now they don't, for example the TuneIn. Wtf?
 
There must have been a recent app update fr TuneIn that only allows it to work with iOS 6
