Can't Access Facebook

I can't access Facebook on my computer but I can on my phone and tablet.

I get this error on Chrome. I've tried other browsers as well and no luck.

This webpage is not available
Google Chrome could not load the webpage because www.facebook.com took too long to respond. The website may be down, or you may be experiencing issues with your Internet connection.
Here are some suggestions:
Reload this webpage later.
Check your Internet connection. Restart any router, modem, or other network devices you may be using.
Add Google Chrome as a permitted program in your firewall's or antivirus software's settings. If it is already a permitted program, try deleting it from the list of permitted programs and adding it again.
If you use a proxy server, check your proxy settings or contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. If you don't believe you should be using a proxy server, adjust your proxy settings: Go to the Chrome menu > Settings > Show advanced settings... > Change proxy settings... > LAN Settings and deselect the "Use a proxy server for your LAN" checkbox.
Error 118 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT): The operation timed out.

Facebook sometimes just craps out on me and doesn't work for a while. Sometimes up to an hour. I briefly panic then realize I have a large library of Steam games and proceed to entertain myself with one of those.

Lol. I'm not like those who spend the entire day on Facebook. I'll just check for 10 minutes and proceed to do other things.

A thought only.
start up Chrome and open another tab then try.
Had an issue similar with slingbox. Fixed it.
Might work and might not.

Nah me neither really. I normally have it open in a window but I don't spend hours on it like most people my age.

Have you tried pinging it, see if your system can see it at all?

Request timed out.

Also rebooted my modem and router and no luck at all. Other computers connected to my network can log into Facebook, it's just mine that won't. Odd...

Access your hosts file and make sure its not hijacked.

c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Open that file using notepad and make sure it only has one entry, should be similar to this.

Code:
# Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
#	127.0.0.1 localhost
#	::1             localhost

Got it. Deleted an address that I added in the host file before to fix an issue I had also with Facebook. Working now!

I had a bit of trouble connecting but in the end it loaded. Could be that FB was being annoying, as per usual.
