On my current system, only one hard drive seams to be working, I have tried plugging in 4 different hard drives and can't get any to show up, the only thing that happens with some of the hard drives I can't boot my computer after plugging them in; I don't even get the windows logo. I have tried various ports and have tried changing the ribbons, I have also tried changing the little plug from master to slave. please help!

would this be a motherboard problem?

What motherboard are you using? Are these drives empty or have data on them? Are you sure these drives are good? Have you tried them in another system? Seems you have IDE drives and its a good possibility the drives are bad.

Are you trying to access the drives from the drive manager in windows? They may not show up until partitioned and formatted.
