can't access pc with XP using pc with win98

i have 2 PC's networked. one using XP while the other one uses win98. they're networked through a hub. they only use workgroup, no domain. the pc having win98 is accessible by the pc using XP but win98 can't access the pc using XP. any advice?

u might need to run the networking wizard disk created on the xp machine to run a setup on the 98 machine.

1. Is the Firewall on XP for the LAN connection?

2. have they The same IP Network Class - i.e 192.168.1.1 for say XP & 192.168.1.2 for W98.?

I bet the XP is home edition. Never had that kind of problems with XP pro.

That and the fact that XP is somewhat secure and 98 isnt so interfacing the two create problems

Try installing the netbeui protocol on both machines. For windows XP you'll have to follow these steps:

I've had a similar thing like this. I fixed it my sharing the whole harddrive to the network and did a search through the Find wizard.
