Can't Boot Laptop

Nightmare

After a recent problem with windows 2000, I stopped working and my laptop has never been the same since. Everytime I boot up the computer it says strike F1 to retry boot, F2 for setup utility. Everytime I try to install windows xp home edition over it, the windows setup program freezes and will not let me continue. Now I have windows 98 second edition, windows 2000, windows xp home, professional, and windows media center 2005 and none of these are loading. I also noticed that when I go to the BIOS, it says there is only 13mb of RAM but I know for sure that there is 192mb of RAM. Everything was fine until one day windows kept generating errors and now I can't even boot into windows. If you can help me I would really appreciate it!

I don't think 192mb of ram will support Windows Xp pro or home. I don't think it will support Windows Media Center 2005 either. The first thing I would do is see if the hard drive is booting. If it isn't I would get a new one. Then I would get more ram probably 1GB. After doing those two things, I will then try to install Windows 2000 or Xp. By the way, I am just curious what processor do you have in your laptop? Another thing is, this laptop an old one? And also what is the make and model?

192mb of ram supports both windows home and professional but not media center (which I didn't plan on using). Since my laptop is broken I'm using my sister's computer which was upgraded from windows 98 to windows pro and it only has 64mb of ram in it and a 500mhz processor. My laptop was manufactured in 2001 and is a dell Cpi series laptop. 6 months ago I just purchused a brand new 60GB hard drive and installed windows 2000 on it. I have a intel 400mhz processor. I already have a new computer picked out for this christmas, but my laptop just crashed yesterday and I need my laptop to hold me over until christmas arrives.

That's what I was thinking, but I'm going to take it out and put it back in to make sure. The only problem is that the RAM seems to be glued to slot and I'm having trouble getting it out.
