I turned my computer off to give it a break, and about 7 hours later I turn it on and it says "Reboot and select proper Boot Device"
I did some research and people said to go into BIOS because the priorities are most likely messed up, and I changed those around and it still did nothing for me, however, i'm not very well with computers.
UEFI version: 970M Pro3 P1.40 (Asrock)
Processor: AMD FX(tm) - 6100 Six-Core Processor 3300MHz
Hard drive(?): SATA3_1 : ST2000DL003-9VT166 , SATA3_2 : hp DVD RW AD-7250H5?
Windows 8
hp pavilion HPE

Hello,

Computers don't really need breaks. Usually you will get that prompt if it can't boot from a storage device.

Check if you left a USB drive connected as that is a common culprit. Also verify the boot order in BIOS to select the drive that has your OS installation.

To be honest if you are "not very well with computers" I would have a word with your friendly local computer repair man. If you are happy that the boot order is correct, and boot orders do not often change on their own, and you do not have any usb drives plugged in then it could be the hard drive is dead. I would use a USB pen drive with a Linux distro installed to see if the computer will boot from that. You will have to change the boot order or press F12 at first boot to change the boot order so that the USB pen drive gets priority. I also notice that you have got UEFI bios on that machine so that will complicate matters. You will have to set the BIOS to legacy settings to allow your computer to boot from the USB pen drive.

As you can see things do start to get complicated so perhaps a trip to your local computer guy is in order. Of course that machine could still be under guarantee and if the hard drive has died then that would be a warranty repair but the software. ie Windows, will not be covered under warranty. I'll put a link up to the Linux distro that I, usually, use which is Mint. There are others.

Making a bootable USB pen drive is reasonably easy IF you know what you are doing and there is masses of stuff about doing it written on the web. Just google it.

Does the bios detect your hard drive? If not you have an issue with it.
I'm not sure, like in my Harddrive priority settings it has something like ST(bunch of numbers here) and that is set as Priority # 1.. Still not working.. So I guess it may be my harddrive is dead? Not sure..

Then it detects your hard drive. Letters ST means you have a seagate hard drive. My guess is that something has happened to the install or windows has become corrupted or infected. Are you tech savvy? You could attach the hard drive to another system to see if windows files are still there. If you aren't then you would need somebody that is to determine what is wrong.

My friend was saying that I should download windows installation on an SD or USB or something and boot it from that, is there a chance my harddrive may get wiped in that option?

Yes, it would. If you boot to install media your only choice is to wipe the drive and reinstall. As I said, if you aren't tech savvy you'll need to take it to someone to diagnose issue.

So, there is a possibility that my hard drive is dead? but still detected?.. And if my harddrive is dead, is there any way to save what I have on there at all?

Also, do you know of any compatible hard drives I could purchase that are decent and or not overpriced?

Yes, its possible.

All depends on how bad the drive is.

Western Digital usually has good prices on their drives. I wouldn't get a toshiba or hitachi drive.

You need to have someone diagnose the issue first before you go spending any money. You may just need a simple fix but without looking at it myself, I couldn't tell what its wrong.

Possibilities are...

1. Drive is failing
2. MBR on hard drive is corrupt.
3. Rootkit/bootkit infection

Have you tried booting to the install dvd and choose to repair OS?
