Can't boot off Sandisk Cruzer Glide USB stick

I wanted to try WD Datalifeguard DOS version to zero a drive which requires a USB flash drive to boot from. Got a SandDisk Cruzer Glide 4gb and followed the instructions below to create a bootable but when I go into bios to prioritize for booting the drive isn't recognized. When in Windows the system sees the drive and I can see all the files on it which are identical to what's in the below tutorial.

Running XP Pro SP3

Any ideas what the problem is? Thanks.

Don't set it as a priority. Just select the temporary boot method (Normally F12 on boot) and choose it.

XP doesn't recognise USB's as fixed drives / hard drives, so the instructions won't work. You need to do it from Vista or newer.

Does it even matter? If it's booting from the USB stick, isn't it a moot point?
