Can't clear taskbar

Vista 64 bit. There are some things (computer, desktop, public) that I can't clear from the taskbar. Rebooting does not help either, ideas?

Can you be more specific or post a screenshot please?

To get rid of Desktop:
Right Click the Taskbar, Left Click Properties.
Left Click the "Toolbars" Tab.
Uncheck "Desktop", Apply, Ok.

To get rid of Public and Computer:
Right Click the taskbar, go up to Toolbars.
Uncheck "Computer" and "Public".
