Cant connect computer up to network printer/ recent computer updates

Over the weekend we updated all of our computers to newer ones.

We used to have wired network desktops.

Now we have all new wireless laptops. All the laptops work great, the printers work great, not an issue.

But since then, my desktop doesn't work now. This is the only computer we didn't replace because its already new, and is considered our server/backup computer.

It will not connect up to our network printer now though.
Worked just fine before the new laptops though.

I try to add a new network printer and it shows up on other computers but I cant connect to it or wont install.
All the new computer are windows 7 64-bit computers.
The desktop is windows XP Pro.

I know I haven't provided to much info but am more than willing to provide if needed.

Let me know what you guys thing you can help me with. Thanks

Any other hardware change? How does the printer connect to the network? wirelessly or ethernet cable?

Only other hardware change was that other router that you had helped me connect up, but that was before the computer swap out and my computer could still print.

The printer is connected via Ethernet cable

I'm thinking maybe the router is overheating due to all the wireless pc's now. You can try updating the firmware on the router or possibly disconnect all wireless pc's and see if you can connect to printer. Other than that, not sure.

but the desktop computer is not wireless, its wired

It doesn't matter, once a router starts to overheat anything can happen. If nothing has changed besides adding laptops to the network, thats where I would start at, the router.

How many new pc's are we talking about?

6 total on the main wireless router, 2 on the second one in the shop. The wired desktop is needing to connect to the router with 6 wireless routers

So the second one in the shop can print just fine? If so, then maybe the printer just needs to be reinstalled on yours. Can you try reinstalling the printer using the printer install cd? Printer wireless or ethernet hookup?

No cd, tried reinstalling, doesnt work. But I did kinda figure out why the printer wasnt working.

When we set up the routers, out internet company had told us to use the wrong ip and was in the DNS pool or something.

So I can see the printer now, but now we are completely losing the internet.

Its like the router is shutting down or something. All the computers would lose the network.

The router isn't over heating. We think we just might have a bad router though.
