Hey guys,

Just got myself a used but fully working MiTAC Mio 558 Digi-Walker POCKET PC.

Specs-

Now on the Pocket pc ive gone into Network settings, and its found my wireless signal, along with others in the street...but when i click on mine and put in my password key it just says "The Network Key you have entered is not correct,Please try again".

I can assure you guys i am putting in the right network key for my router,i also have a laptop connected to my router and thats working and accepting the key but not my Pocket pc.

My router is a Netgear wnr2000.

Any help appreciated. :):good:

It might be trying to authenticate with the wrong encryption type or is unable to support the type you chose. What do you have your wireless encryption set to, WEP, WPA, WPA TEK+AES and is there a spot to select the encryption type on the Pocket PC?

Hi Bacon,My wireless encryption set to on the router-

WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES]

And on my pocket pc i get these options-

Ive tried unchecking and checking diffrent options,re-entering my password and its having none of it.

Theres a guide here how to set up wireless under Pocket PC 2003 but it shows only connectiong to a "Work" and asks for all Ip address and crap....not sure what the hell to do! :P

Ah its as I feared. The Pocket PC is fairly old supporting 802.11b only, but thats not the real problem here. The problem is that it doesn't support WPA, only WEP. If you were to switch your router's encryption type to WEP (which I highly do not recommend since it is easy to crack) the Pocket PC would most likely be able to connect. Unfortunately theres no good fix for this other than what I just mentioned, unless the manufacturer came out with an update that includes WPA.

Aaaarghh! Ive tried Wep security only on my router too and it still would not connect :/

Il have to Email MiTAC and ask them if they have released an update of some sort so i can run it on my router,Not expecting them to have though.

Hahaha saw this thread and was like, Oh yeah I knew he would have issues with the wireless :D
Well man I suggest you give it up, I've fought with my PocketPC for months and never got it to connect to a protected wireless network.

Yeah but it should be able to connect with no security/wireless encryption enabled and it wont,Il probably just return it.

Well i got the internet working on the Pocket pc,I selected no security and Up to 54 Mbps - Legacy Mode with maximum speed of up to 54 Mbps for b/g networks.

and it works flawless,But of course i cant leave my router set to that because its open to anyone then :/

If i try any other settings the Pocket pc wont accept the passwords im giving it for the higher security.
