Can't connect to internet using Chrome

I use Chrome as my default browser. And since yesterday I am unable to access any web page using google chrome. It says "This webpage is unavailable". At first I thought that it was a connection issue but other web applications such as Steam and Skype were running just fine. I tried pinging some webpages and it worked so it's not DNS. Tried repairing connection and using an ethernet cable to no avail. Then I realized that IE and Mozilla worked just fine. So I ran Anti-Malwarebyte it came up with three "dangerous files". Something like "Appdata/Roaming/Open Candy.exe". I don't think it's anything major but removed those things anyway. It didn't fix my problem. I saw on some forum that some malware mess with your browser or internet settings and even removing them doesn't fix the problem so I checked the proxy settings on Chrome to see if some malware had modified it or not. There was nothing modified. Prior to malware check I had uninstall/re-installed Chrome. And tried to delete cookies/cache/temporary internet files etc...Still nothing. So I check my anti-virus and firewalls. Windows firewall is de-activated and I use BitDefender Internet Security. I'm not sure if it's because of my antivirus because Chrome used to work just fine with it until now. Anyway I added an exception for Chrome.exe in BitDefender's firewall. Still nothing. At this point the only thing that I can think of is this Nvidia driver I tried to install the other day. Here is how it went: PC notifies me there is a new NVidia driver so I go to the site check in the table if it's compatible with my graphics card, it is, so I download it. Installation wizard checks if my card is compatible again, everything is fine, installation starts but then fails for some reason. It just says driver installation failed. I have no idea why it would fail if it's a compatible product. So if the installation failed it should initiate a rollback and not affect anything right but still it's the only thing that I can think of at this time. That driver definitely did not install because there is no "restore previous driver" option in my graphics card properties. The only reason why I'm mentioning this graphics card driver business is because on one of the forums I saw something along the lines of "Nvidia driver incompatible with chrome" I have no idea how or why. Anyway I thought I'd mention it. On other PCs at home everything is fine btw. Here are some other minor issues that may or may not be worth mentioning: yesterday I was having difficulties with Skype and Steam voice chat. Calls would just get disconnected for no reason. Similar issue with a game: League of Legends. From time to time it will tell me that connection to PVP.net has been lost and yesterday I was dropping from my friend's lobby alot and couldn't even connect to the game after character selection. So I was thinking maybe internet connection fluctuation or something since I use Wi-Fi and there is a floor between my PC and the modem but even plugging in the ethernet cable doesn't seem to make it any better. That's all of the possibly relevant information I can think of providing right now. So my best guess right now is maybe something to do with the antivirus. I don't know much about BitDefender Internet Security, I just installed it because it came with my laptop. Anyway ...I'd appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

Ok I fixed the issue but I'm still clueless. Here is what I did: I went on chrome://flags/ and disabled GPU compositing on all pages. And it fixed it .__.
I don't know what exactly that option does but it sounded like it increases some kind of performance and I didn't like disabling it so I re-enabled it just to see if it would still work...and it did problem solved. Only thing that I can think of is maybe something related to switchable graphics on my laptop. I might have switched graphics card while chrome was running and maybe that modified something. Anyway it's fixed now. If you can enlighten me more on the cause of this issue I'm all ears.
