Cant copy DVD's anymore?

i have a samsung cd/dvd combo(not DVD writable) and a Sony DVD burner. I wanted to copy a DVD but getting the error message in Nero 'Reading Disc Failed' after about 17mins- here is the time frame-
17:02:05 Creating the image for burning
17:21:46 Error reading data
17:21:47 Reading disc failed

Have had no problems copying DVD's in the past but i have recently put in a new motherboard, graphics card and power unit. Both the cd/dvd combo and the Sony DVD burner work fine on their own- but they cant seem to see each other? Any ideas, thanks

Is it a copy protected disc? As in, are you trying to burn a movie?

i would delete the burner and have the operating system re detect the burner.

no its just my own footage i'm trying to copy.

Delete burner? how would i do that?

I don't know about Vista, im using XP.

hardware
device manager

find your burner then delete. reboot and let it find it again.

Only other thing i can think of, check your connections again from
burner to board. remove the ribbon and plug back in.

One other, with a can of static free air, open the tray and lightly blow
across the laser head. this mostly works for me.
from the states then any office supply or radio shack.

Ok, the DVD can't be read? Maybe dirty or scratched? Also, try using a different program. Nero 6 was ok. But the other one, my older brother had similar problem.
