Can't decide on i7 mobo

This will be my first build and first time to over clock anything. I keep reading mixed reviews about the EVGA x58 Sli X3 and the ASUS P6T Deluxe v2. I am pretty sure I want one of these two boards.

I am wondering which would be best for a first timer in your expert experience. I will probably only ever do two gpu's, so not to concerned about tri sli. Want a fairly easy over clock, solid stable board, nice features, and good customer support just incase. Also, in a combo deal I can get the ASUS Rampage Extreme for the same price as the EVGA would this route be better?

Thanks in advance for any advice anyoen can give.

Since you plan at maxing at just SLI or Quad-SLI i would highly recommend the Foxconn Bloodrage GTI, one of the best boards out there for the price(and the newest revisions of the GTI overclock VERY well). Although between those two boards i would take the Asus P6T v2, as the EVGA X58 vanilla only has a 6phase power design and doesnt overclock that well.

What all do you plan to be running on this board? The money you save over the EVGA or Asus board you can use to get a nice heatsink like a prolimatech megahalems;)

I'm fairly new at this but which one of those will get you the best overclocking results? because i'm trying to decide which one to get. Right now i'm thinking about Asus P6T v2 but still not sure... Thanks.

I saw something about Foxconn not making mobo's anymore is that true? This is the reason I just steered away from the brand. Also, is the Foxconn a good board for a first timer. It looks so intimidating lol. For some reason I just get a feeling that between the ASUS and EVGA boards the ASUS will be made better, don't know why I get that feeling. Also, I was looking at the cpu cooler fits, and most of them fit better on the ASUS board over the EVGA. The board cooler is rather large on the EVGA and had to be bent in one review to fit the Thermalright 120 ulltra.

Foxconn makes the board for EVGA, foxconn is one of the largest OEM's of motherboards in the world. They make the boards for almost all apple products, The Wii, Xbox 360, Playstation 3, as well as make reference boards for both XFX and EVGA among others. A few years back they started making their own line of boards, which generally speaking are great boards. The Bloodrage GTI is the best board for the money IMO.

The evga and asus boards well....neither are really meant for overclocking. The newest revisions of the bloodrage GTI's have a resistor changed, and with the new revisions they can run close to the classy's as far as overclocking is concerned. Again, the P6T and X58 were not boards designed with overclocking in mind.

Thats another reason i dont recommend the EVGA X58, it wasnt designed for larger heatsinks in mind.

The only thing I would be concerned about with the Foxconn is that it only has 3 DIMM slots--so make sure to get at least a 3x2GB set when you buy Ram.

The Asus P6T-D is the better board of the 2. The PCI-E slots are spread apart so that the top card has room to breath. The board features 6 ddr3 slots. I am using all 6 slots with 12gb's and can OC no problem. I hit 4.7 on this board with all 12gb's in as well.

Would you say that overall the P6T is easier to work with for a first timer? I was planning on getting a ddr3 1600 set, but in the P6T specification on Newegg it says 1600 memory is only reached through overclocking. Will that be a pain for a first timer?
