can't delete 0 kilobyte file

hi,

I want to delete this file but It won't delete. I don't know what type of file it is, it just says 'file' under "Type". I get this error message:

Item not found

could not find this item

this is no longer located in (D:\the actual path...). Verify the item's location and try again."

I am given the option 'try again' and 'cancel'.

How can I delete this file :S ?

What is the name of the file and what directory is it in? Have you tried doing it in safe mode?

+1 for Unlocker, it's a great program that will delete, rename, or move files when Windows won't let you.

i think, the program is actually deleted and it is just displaying there because of a registry reference to that program.

Try any registry cleaner, eg. ccleaner, tuneup utilities, to check the registry for unneccessary references, or simply, clean up the registry.

I hope the program wont be there after that.

Try restarting the computer and trying again. Sometimes it won't let me delete a file because it is in use by some hidden program. I usually just restart the computer and delete it and it works fine. Otherwise go for Unlocker.
