This morning I got a new Gateway with Vista Home Premium, installed all the Windows updates, restarted many times, etc. But I found that if I try to open my DVD or CD drives on my tower, nothing happens.
When I go to the Device Manager, it does not show a "DVD/CD Drive" option. It simply shows "Computer, Disk Drives, Display Adapters, Human Interface Adapters", etc, but does not have a DVD/CD Drive option to expand.
If I go to Start > Computer, I can see these drives:
Compact Flash (E
, Combo Socket (F
, SD/MMC (G
, and Memory Stick (H
, but nothing else.
Could I have plugged something in wrong? If I go into BIOS, under what setting would I check for the CD/DVD drives to see if it's a hardware problem?
thanks
