Ok - i just did a clean install of XP Home SP1 - we only have Pro SP2 discs which dont have many codes left, so i will download sp2 later...

however, i was just in the middle of downloading things such as Azeurus (sp?), Adobe Photoshop etc. and it downloads the files "immediately", but when i click on them, it says it cant be used because its not a real "Win32" file...

Im using mozilla, so when i downlaod, the download screen should come up, instead it just asks me if i want to save the save the file, then goes away again....

help? cheers

Need SP2? How about only having to ddwnload it once and even buring it to a cd-r in case you have to reistall XP/SP1 at some other time? The full 266mb service pack can be downloaded at http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/Windows-XP-SP2-RTM.shtml I once had an SP1 disk.

For getting things for Windows like Adobe Photoshop why not use IE 7 for this. The apparently missing WIN32 file is probably due to not having SP2 already installed where some files are expected. Go for SP2 now and then try a fresh download to see if this corrects the problems being seen.

you can set this up in options on the MAIN tab "Show the downloads window when downloading a file"
