cant empty recycle bin

A fair while ago i deleted a file, and the "name to long specify a different file name" message came up, being lazy i dragged the file into the recycle bin, and this seemed to work, however when i go to empty the bin ever since this message always comes up, and some of the files i try to delete remain in the bin, when i search for any of the files in the bin i can not locate them, or the original file that caused the problem, can anyone help me.

Yup. Or you can use Tuneup shredder that comes with TuneUp Utilities 2008. It can even delete processes/infections that windows wont let you delete.

i tried CCleaner in safe mode it still did not work i get the message cannot delete said file, file name is to long specify a new file name. I cannot find the file so i cannot rename it, i have tried a search for it but there are no results.

I would say go for the system restore. But you said a "fair while ago" so it might be a little inconvenient. But if nothing else works, this just might be your last chance.
