Cant Erase Travan Tape

So I have a problem,

Im running Server 2003 with Symantec Backup Exec 10d

I have a Travan 10/20GB SCSI Tape drive, (bought used, said it was good)
I got 2 travan 10/20GB tapes refurbs...

When I try to erase the tapes it says

The Request Cannot be performed because of an I/O device error.

The tapes aren't write protected either.

Anyone seen this before.
 
Yeah I have it terminated... its a pci scsi card btw.

I replaced a DDS2 drive which worked fine, just did a swap out. I have what would seem to be the latest veritas drivers for the device they are from late 2006 not too old.
 
I figured it out.... the belt that made the tape spin wasn't on all the way. I just slipped it back on and presto. Hope this helps anyone that has a similar problem!
