Can't find chromecast extension

Recently, I bought a Google Chromecast. I followed the instruction and downloaded the Google extension. However, when I closed the browser and reopened it, I couldn't find the cast extension. I looked in tools and the extension page, but no Google extension. What's wrong?

Did you download the correct extension? It's called Google Cast (there's another called Chromecast but it's used for podcasts). Once you add the extension, it should appear as an icon at the top of the browser, no need to close/reopen Chrome.

I want to be sure that I downloaded the right one, so I download Google Cast again, and as soon as I closed and reopen the browser the cast icon disappeared. I even update my Google website. Still the icon was gone, and I couldn't find it in tools either.

I notice that when I checked my extension page I wouldn't find Google Cast or any of the other extensions I added in the last hour. However I did find an extension call "Ask." I had this app remove in the trash bin, but when I reopened the page, it was right page back on the extension page.

That sounds like it might be the ASK toolbar. You should be able to remove that using the control panel Programs & Features. The ASK toolbar is annoying but shouldn't prevent you from adding extensions as far as I know.

This is the extension you want:

Do you have any other extensions installed? If not, try installing something else and see if that disappears when you close and re-open your browser, then we can narrow down if it's an issue with this particular extension or all extensions.
