Can't find IE

Wanted to try using IE to open a file (doesn't work with Firefox) and could not find it anywhere. I'm running Win7, looked in the Start menu and even in the Control panel and could not find Internet Explorer. Downloaded IE 9 from Microsoft's site, went to install and got the following message:

"Internet Explorer did not finish installing. Internet Explorer 9 is already installed on this system".

Then looked in Windows Explorer and found some IE files under "Program Files (x86)". But could not get anything to appear.

Any suggestions?

hit Windows Key and R at the same time to bring up the run prompt. Then run iexplore.exe that will run internet explorer. You can pin it to your task bar after that.

That file does not exist in my directory. The other ones in your picture are present but not those. I was thinking of uninstalling and then reinstalling, but IE does not even show up in the Control Panel.

IE won't show up in control panel per say. You need to click on view installed updates. IE 8 comes with Windows 7. If you upgraded to IE 9 then you will see the update listed. What file are you trying to open?

I'm trying to open IE. But cannot find the executable file anywhere. Tried downloading IE9 and got the message stated above. Just checked the installed updates and there is no mention of IE.

I figured it out. Got it working. Found an update to IE10 and uninstalled it. Then reloaded IE9 and everything works fine. Thanks All for your help.
