can't find win.com, unable to load windows 98

Hi,

My I have my friends computer which wont boot up, it gives an error message the same as the threads title.

I have his drive currently plugged into my computer as a slave drive and readin around the web I need to replace the win.com file with a fresh copy from the disk, I have his boot disk and setup disk but can't seem to find the file to replace on his HDD, it should be in c:\windows folder but dosent seem to be there.

Any ideas?

if it is not appearing check in folder options in the control panel to make sure you dont have hide protected system files checked.

You will probably need to extract the win.com file
from his Windows 98 CD.
