Can't Format

Hi! I have two hard drives. One the has everything except one trial program. The situation is, one of my hard drives was blank. I downloaded a trial program to this otherwise blank disc. The trial period has expired and I want to remove this program. Of course, I went through Control Panel-add or remove programs and it is not listed. I don't recall a trial or otherwise program doing this. It certainly is on the drive. I tried to format the drive to clear the program and get this message "Windows cannot format this drive. Quit any disk utilities or other programs that are using this drive, and make sure that no window is displaying the contents of the drive. Then try formatting again." I have restarted Windows (I have XP Media Edition) and gone straight to formatting the drive and get the same message. Any ideas how I can format this drive? It is one of three in my computer, the other two are set as RAID 0. I haven't experienced this problem before. Thanks

The drive you are trying to format isn't the system drive is it? You can't format the drive that windows is installed on while in windows environment.

Have you gone into safe mode and tried formatting the drive that way?

No, it's not the system drive. In fact the subject drive had nothing on it until the one program was installed. I have not but will try in "safe mode".
