Can't get to boot from cd

A friend of mine gave me his computer to fix up and what not, but I am alittle stuck right now. I am unable to get his computer to boot from the cd-rom to install the os. Everything is set correctly or to the best of my knowledge. Right now the computer is pretty much barebones (mobo, 1 cd-rom, psu, 1 stick of ram, hd, & gfx card) to prevent any interference. The bios are set to boot from cd-rom first than the hd. Also the cd-rom is set to master even though there is only one. This is an older pc running a P3 750 mhz ect. If you need any more info just ask.

Any ideas would be great.

Yeah, every thing like that is set correctly. Although something can't be set correctly, or else it would be working so idk.

Bob.

During loading the system (Turning On The Computer), press Delete Button and Go to BIOS Mode Menu and see if the Boot 1, 2, and 3 is on CD-ROM. ;)

Still not work? Okay, how many CD-ROM or CD-RW Burner do you have? If you have two CD-ROM, make sure only one jumper plug into one CD-ROM because if you has two connection (Pin Plug) in one jumper and use both of them to plug in both CD-ROM. It will not work. So, just make sure use one jumper with one connection plug only one CD-ROM... Hope this help also.

Thanks for the replys you guys.

Believe it or not, I never knew that some cd-rom drives aren't bootable lol. So hopefully thats the problem.
I'll let you know how it goes on a cd-rom that I know is bootable.

Later, Bob.

The CD is bootable, but the cd-rom may not be bootable. (hopefully)
And which CDROM is this? Cuz it must be a special model if it doesnt do what 99.99999% of CD drives can do (i.e., it's bootable)

The dirve is just some gerneric gateway cd-rom. So lets say the cd-rom is bootable, what do you think could be the problem if: all jumpers are set correctly, boot sequence and bios are set correctly the cd-rom works and I know for a fact that the cd is bootable?

I honestly can't think of anymore ideas, Thanks for the help, Bob.

1. That the settings arent in fact set correctly
2. You're not pressing the any key when it says to (regardless of whether you see it or not)
3. Try the BBS/Boot Device Menu :)

1. Settings are set correctly, obviously that would be the main problem wrong, but I've checked everything over a ton of times and they are set correctly.

2. The press any key line never came up, but I have pressed space while going through the whole boot sequence anyways.

3. Boot Device menu is set correctly, but what does bbs stand for, bios boot sequence lol.

Thanks for all the help so far. Bob.
