Can't install Ubuntu

I'm having some trouble with installing Ubuntu on my 4 year old Dell desktop. I have a 40 GB HD. Can anybody help me with my problem? Here's a link to another post for more information.

Try unmounting (or mounting it if it's already unmounted) the partition you are trying to resize. You should be able to do it though GParted.
