can't load home page

I've been on another part of this forum without success. I can't load www.bbc.co.uk (home page) in either firefox or IE. I have disabled AVG and windows firewall but still no success. When I boot Puppy linux I can get to BBC fine. Anyone got any suggestions? (other than stay with linux!)

o whoops sorry... go to start run type CMD hit ok

type ping www.bbc.co.uk hit enter

it should reply with an address if it doesnt reply or gives you a different address you might have an old record in your DNS cache or you might have a host record that is redirecting it.


are you getting a page cannot be displayed?

are any other sites having problems?

I did as you said and got below. BBC will not load at all so IE / firefox simply give up.

try clearing out your cache... in IE go to tools internet options and under the general tab you should see options for clearing temporary internet files do that.

if not check you hosts file to see if there is something in there....

c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

open it with notepad... if you see anything in there for www.bbc.co.uk delete that entry and save it.
