can't load OS

I bought a new HP laptop from Walmart, it was pre-loaded with windows 10. I hit the on button and got a message, "enter key". I had assumed that had already been done by the factory. The information told where to look for the key, no key could be found. I called Walmart, they refuse all responsibility and claim I must deal with the vendor. I had thought Walmart was the vendor since I ordered this through Walmart.com, but no, the vendor was Antonline. I called Antonline and asked where to find the KEY, I was immediately accused of "messing up the computer" I had only unpacked it and tried to turn it on. They refused to tell me where I could find the key. The computer has print saying it was under ther battery compartment but it was not. there was a place where a umber could have been but nothing was written there. I examined the whole machine with a high power magnifying glass. I ordered a new windows 7 OS disk but the computer refused to boot to it. I then tried to boot to linux Ubuntu OS after setting it up to boot to DVD, it still refused to load to an OS disk. I now have a $100 windows OS disk and a $600 laptop that are new but do not work bought from walmart who claims to fully guarantee their online sales. suggestions appreciated.

You should have just returned the laptop. It sounds like someone bought it, screwed it up, and returned it.

See if you can access recovery options and reset system back to factory. You can't boot to cd unless you go into bios and disable secure boot and enable legacy boot. It's one of the downsides of using secure boot.
